Air Source Heat Pump Installation in Wakefield

Full heat loss design and Vaillant heat pump install for a family home

Location Wakefield
Completed March 2026
Service Heat Pump Installation
Scope Air source heat pump, hot water cylinder, radiator system

The Brief

A family home in Wakefield was running on an ageing gas system that was becoming unreliable and expensive to run. The homeowners wanted to move to a cleaner, more efficient way of heating the whole house, and asked us to design and install an air source heat pump. Their priority was even, comfortable warmth throughout the home, with a system sized correctly so it would perform on the coldest days rather than struggle.

What We Did

Our work included:

  • Completed a full heat loss calculation: Before quoting, we worked out how the property loses and holds heat, room by room, so the heat pump could be sized correctly for the home rather than guessed at.
  • Designed the system: We set the design temperatures so the heat pump would deliver even warmth across the whole house and run the radiator system efficiently at heat pump temperatures.
  • Installed the air source heat pump: The outdoor unit was fitted with the correct clearance zones so it runs quietly and efficiently, and positioned neatly to the property.
  • Fitted a new hot water cylinder: A cylinder was installed and connected to provide reliable hot water alongside the heating.
  • Connected and balanced the radiator system: Pipework was run and the radiators balanced so warmth is delivered evenly to every room.
  • Commissioned and handed over: The system was filled, pressurised, tested and commissioned, and we showed the homeowners how to get the best from it.

The Result

A quiet, efficient air source heat pump delivering steady, even warmth across the whole house, with reliable hot water from the new cylinder. Because the system was sized off a proper heat loss calculation, it performs as it should rather than fighting the property. The homeowners have a low-carbon heating system they can rely on, installed to the required standards by REFCOM F-Gas certified engineers.

Job Duration: A multi-day project from survey and heat loss design through to installation, commissioning and handover.
